Paul Tomlins specialises in premium cataract surgery, dry eye disease, keratoconus and corneal transplantation surgery.

He completed his basic medical training in the University of Birmingham in 2001 and started his Ophthalmological training in the West Midlands. Working as Clinical Lecturer for the University of Birmingham in 2009 he developed novel online Ophthalmology teaching for Undergraduate Medical Students.

As Clinical Lecturer, he secured funding for basic science research into the immunological mechanism of dry eye disease and was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine for his work.

He completed his specialist corneal training working under Professor Harminder Dua in Nottingham University Hospital gaining experience in the management of complex ocular surface disease.

He moved to Cheltenham General Hospital where he setup new corneal services, introducing new treatments for keratoconus and corneal transplantation techniques. He has continued his interest in teaching, working as College Tutor and developing surgical simulation training.

He has a special interest in the use of premium intraocular lenses to tailor a bespoke solution for each patient’s specific visual requirements; such as correcting astigmatism, or reducing the need for reading glasses. Read more about Paul Tomlins here
