Miss Rooker gained her medical degree from Oxford University in 2005. She completed Foundation Training in Oxford and in 2007 was allocated a run-through training number for Trauma and Orthopaedics in the Severn Deanery. Having completed her orthopaedic training, she was awarded a prestigious ATP fellowship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she received further sub-specialist training in hand and wrist surgery. During her fellowship she worked in a combined orthopaedic and plastic hand unit therefore benefiting from exposure to both specialities. In addition she completed the British Hand Diploma during her fellowship year. In 2017 she was awarded the British Hand Society International Travelling Fellow Scholarship to attend the American Hand Society meeting in San Francisco and visit a number of specialist centres in the United States.

Miss Rooker currently works as a full-time consultant at The Great Western Hospital in Swindon. She is a member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
