Our Board of Trustees govern and protect the best interests of our patients, colleagues and local communities by making key decisions and setting the strategy that enables us to continue delivering high-quality, safe services and outstanding care to everyone we engage.
Chair
Jeremy has lived in and around Tetbury since 1994 and served as a Trustee from 2007 to 2011 before re-joining the board in 2015. He had a 30 year career in the city as a fund manager and director of several leading asset management firms including Morgan Stanley, Framlington Group and Mirabaud Asset Management. He chairs the Tetbury branch of CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) and is a trustee and Deputy Chair of New Brewery Arts Centre in Cirencester.
Chief Executive Officer
Laura was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Tetbury Hospital Trust in May 2022. Laura’s background is as a registered social worker, gaining significant experience across health and social care through a number of leadership roles within acute and community services. She has worked as a Senior Operational Manager in the NHS and more recently as a Senior Commissioner with BSW clinical commissioning group. Laura is passionate about the delivery of high quality services and brings with her a wealth of experience to lead the strategic development of the hospital by ensuring care is accessible and delivered close to the individuals and communities we serve.
Medical Director
Mike joined the board in July 2014 as our Medical Director. He qualified from the Royal Free Hospital, London and undertook surgical training at University College London. After specialist training and a fellowship in hip surgery in the world renowned Exeter Hip Unit, he was appointed as consultant in the Great Western Hospital Swindon. He teaches hip surgery nationally and internationally, and is involved with Beyond Compliance, a national group controlling the introduction of new hip prosthesis. He has a healthy interest in classic car restoration and motorbikes.
Matron
Susan was appointed Matron of Tetbury Hospital in October 2022. Susan trained as a registered general nurse at The Nightingale School of Nursing London and worked at St Thomas’ Hospital and The Chelsea and Westminster Hospital prior to moving to Gloucestershire. Susan has held several senior clinical and leadership roles within the hospital and community environment in Gloucestershire. She is passionate about delivering high quality patient centred care and very much enjoys being part of the team.
Non-Executive Trustee
Dame Glenys is a solicitor by profession and has a wealth of CEO and regulatory experience, having led the start-up and/or development of a number of public sector organisations responsible for legal or regulatory services. During an illustrious career, she has served as Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Probation, Chief Executive at Animal Health (now part of the Animal and Plant Health Agency), Chair of the Professional Standards Authority and Chief Regulator at Ofqual. In 2019, she chaired an independent review of farm regulation at the request of the then Secretary of State for Defra.
Dame Glenys was appointed Dame Commander of the British Empire in the New Year Honours List in 2016 in recognition of her services to education. She was appointed Chair-designate of the Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) in December 2020 and appointed Chair on legal creation of the OEP in 2022.
Non-Executive Trustee
Louise moved to Tetbury from London in 2021 and joined the board in January 2022. She has had a long career in advertising and marketing, working in senior leadership roles for global networks including Omnicom, Havas and Publicis. Louise has worked with a variety of blue-chip clients including Microsoft, Pepsi, Müller, and the Home Office. She has in depth experience in mergers and acquisitions and currently runs her own business consultancy and executive coaching business.
Non-Executive Trustee
Kathy joined as a Trustee in early 2016. Having started her career in banking, she moved across to HR, holding senior roles at both Lloyds Banking Group and Vodafone. She then spent six years at Dyson where she led the global HR team. A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Kathy is currently Group HR Director of Rotork plc.
Non-Executive Trustee
Steven moved to Tetbury in 2022 from Jersey and joined our board in November 2023. His 38 year career was in international private banking, specifically in the private (bank owned) trustee sector. During his career he held several senior leadership and board level roles with large multinational banks in locations around the world including Canada, Asia, the Caribbean and Europe.
Non-Executive Trustee
Tom joined as a Trustee in 2024. He has over 25 years of commercial, finance, business development and trading experience within the energy sector, most recently as UK Country Chair for RWE, the UK‘s largest power generator. He has held a variety of senior board roles including Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Financial Officer and has previously worked at Barclays Capital, Enron and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is also currently Chair of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association, a board member of Energy UK, and a Trustee of Tetbury Malthouse.
Non-Executive Trustee
Tara joined as a Trustee in early 2021. She has had an interesting and varied career. She spent five years in healthcare while studying for her MSc in Occupational Psychology and then spent over five years on the Senior Management Team as Head of HR and Development of a leading Microsoft partner. Tara is currently working with a Southwest based housing, health and social care provider delivering HR and governance projects.
Non-Executive Trustee
An engineer from Cambridge, Tony initially worked as a Transportation Planning consultant and then joined Shell from where he retired in 2003, having worked in most of its 'downstream' businesses. He then consulted for several years, during which time he became a Trustee of Enham Trust, a disability charity based in Hampshire. Tony became a Trustee of Tetbury Hospital Trust in July 2015.
Non-Executive Trustee
Julie has over 39 years’ experience in healthcare, predominantly in the NHS. Initially specialising in intensive care, she progressed on to a variety of senior nursing and operational management roles, including at executive level. Her most recent role as Director of Nursing and Clinical Services was in a charitable setting delivering hospice and integrated care services.
Non-Executive Trustee
Richard joined the board in 2018. As a Solicitor at city firm Allen & Overy LLP from 1985 to 2009 he made partner before breaking away with two colleagues to form Maurice Turnor Gardner LLP, an independent practice where he remains a partner. He was a non-executive director of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust from 2009 to 2017 and remains a Trustee of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
