As an independent healthcare provider, Tetbury Hospital Trust is proud to deliver high-quality, safe services on behalf of the NHS (through the GP e-Referral Service) and for private patients.
By the late 1980s the NHS owned portfolio of community hospitals in Gloucestershire was struggling financially, and Tetbury Hospital was threatened with closure, putting patient care close to home under threat. Tetbury residents and the local community refused to lose such a critical asset; they raised over a million pounds to save the hospital and re-establish it as a charitable entity.
Tetbury Hospital Trust Ltd was incorporated in 1992 and our fundraising arm The Friends of Tetbury Hospital was established at the same time. The former Prince of Wales became our Patron and the 12th Duke of Beaufort, whose family have been long term supporters of the hospital, is our President. The Trust continues to thrive under the governance of our committed board of trustees.
Our strong, collaborative relationships with neighbouring NHS Trusts and fellow independent healthcare providers ensures patients are cared for seamlessly. Our committed, compassionate and skilled team of clinical experts, nurses and support services put patients at the heart of everything we do, delivering high quality, professional care to patients with pre-existing or new health problems. We welcome outpatients for consultations, day case surgery, X-rays and treatment for minor injuries and illnesses.
We have been awarded a five star certificate of excellence by iWantGreatCare based on patient reviews and were rated Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) during our last inspection in 2022.

The Friends of Tetbury Hospital lead our fundraising efforts for vital new and replacement medical equipment and capital projects that are not funded by the NHS, so we are able to fulfil our vision to deliver clinical excellence and outstanding patient care.
