Mr Anand treats NHS and private patients at Tetbury Hospital Trust. He originally trained in Delhi, India where he qualified as an MD in Ophthalmology. He has been a Consultant Ophthalmologist in the NHS since 1998, initially in Luton until 2001 and then in Huddersfield and Halifax until 2014.
Mr Anand has been a Registrar in Leeds, a Senior Registrar in Birmingham and a Fellow in Glaucoma at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston, USA. He is now a complex glaucoma and cataract specialist at Cheltenham General Hospital, performing over 1,500 cataract surgeries every year.
Mr Anand has published extensively on glaucoma surgery with over 50 original manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and was an investigator in a pivotal multi-centre trial on glaucoma treatment. He is an international expert on non-penetrating glaucoma surgery and was a technical advisor to NICE on glaucoma surgery for three years until 2011. He was awarded the American Academy of Ophthalmology Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
