Mr Whittaker treats NHS and private patients at Tetbury Hospital Trust.
Mr Whittaker trained and qualified in Nottingham in the mid 1980s becoming a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1993. His main areas of interest include the management of menstrual disorders, endometriosis, pelvic pain, painful sex and the treatment of prolapse.
Mr Whittaker has considerable experience in treating women with heavy and painful periods using both medical and surgical treatments, including the Mirena coil and endometrial ablation. He is proficient in laparoscopic hysterectomy and has been involved nationally in the study of different types of hysterectomy.
His other major interest is the management of endometriosis, and he treats this condition using laparoscopic techniques. He has been part of the working group focused on developing national endometriosis centres for the surgical treatment of advanced endometriosis. He is also very experienced in dealing with most benign gynaecological conditions and regularly performs surgery for prolapse.
Since qualifying as a Consultant Gynaecologist, he has been very involved in teaching and training doctors in how to perform keyhole surgery in gynaecology. Wherever possible he uses these less invasive approaches with his patients.
