Dr Madhavi Vellayan treats NHS and private patients at Tetbury Hospital Trust. She graduated from University of Madras, India in 1992. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in various renowned centres in Yorkshire and underwent specialisation in Gynaecological Endoscopy in Jessop Hospital for Women, Sheffield. She has been working as a Consultant Gynaecologist in Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust from 2007. Dr Vellayan has a wide range of experience and interest in women’s health issues ranging from gynaecological issues affecting children to period problems, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, endometriosis, menopausal symptoms and unscheduled bleeding on HRT.
Dr Vellayan provides a full assessment of the presenting problem and discussion around various options available for management. She is trained in minimally invasive surgery (Laparoscopic and Hysteroscopic surgery) and adopts this method of surgery where feasible to improve patient recovery after operation.
When it comes to female health, women are much more open about the issues they face than in years gone by. It is becoming more common for ladies to talk about their health as well as being a subject covered more frequently by the media. However, when it comes to gynaecological conditions, it is natural for many to still feel nervous or apprehensive about discussing their problems. As a female gynaecologist offering NHS and private gynaecology services in Gloucestershire, Dr Madhavi Vellayan understands this. As well as being extremely professional, Dr Vellayan is also keen to ensure that all those who come to see her are put at ease. Her quality and experience assures her patients that they are in the best hands.
