Bank Vacancy – RGN / Operating Department Practitioner

Due to increased demand for our services we need to grow our bank team to be able to continue to deliver excellent individualised patient care. An exciting opportunity has therefore arisen for a Bank Registered General Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner at Tetbury Hospital to work as part of the Day Surgery Unit and Outpatient Department team.

Tetbury Hospital has a generic small but busy Outpatient and Day Surgery Unit, which delivers services across seventeen different medical and surgical specialities. Clinics are consultant led, and the Registered Practitioners are required to work across these specialities.

The Opportunity

The post holder’s prime responsibility will be to supplement the DSU / OPD team when needed, to perform the tasks of a Registered General Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner in admitting, assessing, and caring for patients pre, peri and post procedure.

The post holder will be an ambassador for the Trust, delivering care in an efficient, patient focused and professional way.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced nurse who will already be first level registered, and able to demonstrate a good level of clinical skills and up to date knowledge.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A passion for providing first class care
  • Evidence of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative way

An additional teaching and assessing qualification, audit skills and experience of delivering change management initiatives would be an advantage.

Previous experience in DSU Scrub, Anaesthetics and Recovery is preferable as is OPD experience in Minor Ops Skills, Phlebotomy, ECG and preoperative assessment and screening.

The Package

We can offer flexible ad hoc hours on a Bank basis, with an hourly pay rate of between £ 12.56 - £ 15.62 P/hr. plus holiday pay. This role is a Grade I (NHS Band 5 equivalent). A pay award is pending for this role.
