Tetbury Hospital offers patients a wide range of outpatient and day surgery services and prides itself on ‘putting people first’. The hospital is currently recruiting for a Medical Secretary on a part time basis 12 to 16 hours per week and also an ad hoc ‘bank’ Medical Secretary.  

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth day to day delivery of the receptionist function and maintaining effective and efficient records and systems.  

In this role you will be required to provide a comprehensive administrative service to the consultants and teams. You will join our team of five secretaries providing support for each other and ensuring continuity of the service whilst also acting as a point of liaison between patients, consultants, GPs, other staff and outside agencies. The role holder should be able to remain professional and sensitive to customer needs at all times, be a strong and effective communicator, and be able to work within a busy, potentially noisy public environment.   

The ideal candidate for this role will: 

  • Have GCSE (or equivalent) level education to include Maths and English
  • Be well organised, highly motivated  
  • Happy to use own initiate but also work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have a sound knowledge of medical terminology (essential)
  • Have sound knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Have excellent keyboard skills (essential)
  • Have audio typing experience (preferred) 

A candidate with working knowledge of Trak-care, our patient software system, would be an advantage. 

As part of this role you will be required to complete mandatory training.
