Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon

Mr Gleeson treats NHS and private patients at Tetbury Hospital Trust.

He trained at University College London Medical School gaining a BSc in Anatomy in 1991 and qualified as a doctor in 1994. As a junior orthopaedic surgeon, he worked in London and Bristol and trained under some well-respected knee specialists including Mr Jonathan Webb, Mr Jonathan Eldridge and Mr John Newman.

To complete his specialist training, Mr Gleeson spent a year in Australia, undertaking a knee fellowship in Sydney with Professor Leo Pinczweski, an internationally renowned soft tissue knee surgeon at the North Sydney Sports and Orthopaedic Medicine Centre. While in Australia, he also carried out research on the long-term follow up of modern ACL reconstruction and assessment of a new bearing surface for total knee replacements, publishing research comparing fixed and mobile bearing unicompartmental knee replacements.

He took up a consultant post in Gloucestershire NHS Foundation Trust on his return from Australia, and then replaced a retiring knee surgeon at Gloucester Royal Hospital in 2006, performing many partial and total knee replacements every year.

Mr Gleeson is a actively involved in training up-and-coming orthopaedic surgeons.
